JUSTIFICATION OF THE CHOICE OF AN ICEBREAKER FOR WINTER NAVIGATION IN THE AZOV SEA

Journal Title: Shipbuilding & marine infrastructure - Year 2018, Vol 1, Issue

Abstract

In this article, the issue of choosing an icebreaker to ensure winter navigation in the Sea of Azov is considered, taking into account the analysis of weather conditions. In winter navigation, ice conditions in the basin of the Sea of Azov are almost extreme, which affects the work of existing types of icebreakers. The safety of ice navigation in the shallow Sea of Azov directly depends on the prevailing hydrometeorological conditions in the autumn-winter period, namely, on the temperature and wind conditions, on the temperature of the surface layer and the salinity of the sea water and, on the severity of winter. Therefore, the study and recording of weather conditions in planning the safety of navigation in the ice conditions in the Sea of Azov is a very urgent task. The necessity of using an icebreaker for year-round uninterrupted wiring of ships with the purpose of changing the ice conditions with the purpose of increasing the volume of cargo turnover of a sea port is substantiated.
