Kadının Çalışmasına Yönelik Tutum ve Sosyal Kaytarma Davranışında Dindarlık Düzeyinin Etkisi: Otel Çalışanlarına Yönelik Bir Araştırma

Abstract

In hotel organizations, attitudes and behaviors of managers and employees are influential on decisons to be taken, on human relations to be created, and on work oriented actions. In this study, the aim is to investigate the influence of religiosity on attitudes toward women’s working, self-loafing and social loafing in terms of hotel employees. Data were collected from touristic hotel employees around Turkey’s geographical regions by survey technique. Convenience sampling method was used and a total of 828 usable questionnaire forms were used in the analysis. In order to analyse the collected data statistical analysis such as frequency, Independent Sampling T-Test, One Way Anova, and Chi- Square Test were conducted. The findings show that in hotel work environment, women are more religious than men; men are more inclined to women’s working than women; The Black Sea Region is the most religious region than the other regions and these findings are congruent with the previous studies. Moreover the findings suggest that employees who perceive themselves as “not-loafing” seem more religious than employees who perceive themselves as loafers. Employees who rate social loafing high also rate themselves as loafers. Employees that marked themselves higher social loafing have negative attitudes toward women’s working.
