Abstract
The purpose of interest rate risk management should be to reduce the size of this risk to the maximum allowable size. The attempt to completely reduce the risk leads to the abandonment of opportunities for additional income that can be obtained due to changes in the market interest rate. Mismatch on the side of assets and liabilities and off-balance sheet items is a normal element of the activity until the extent of the threat does not significantly disrupt fi-nancial liquidity and, at the same time, the generated income. The examina-tion of the interest rate risk on the firma behavior should begin with getting acquainted with its size. In this way, the data should be properly collated and then the appropriate methods should be applied.
