Autorka przedstawia rozumienie dynamiki rozwoju reakcji kryzysowej z perspektywy podejścia psychodynamicznego oraz daje wskazówki, jak je wykorzystać w terapii krótkoterminowej. Wskazuje na znaczenie pracy nad gniewem i żałobą po stracie oraz związku sposobów ich przeżywania z wczesnodziecięcą traumą i zaburzeniami więzi.
