Abstract
The need for the midwives’ service has always existed and will always be present as long as humans maintain. Apart from the era/age, the scientifical-technical or economical progress, the midwives do their job constantly, improving their abilities and gaining higher qualifications. That is why the need for educated midwives is still rising as the medical sciences develop. The development of schools educating the midwives was necessary. In the trend of the development of schools preparing girls to the profession of midwives, Włocławek has been significantly known where in 1977 the Medical Technical Department no 2 was founded, and then changed into the Complex of Medical High Schools. The history of Włocławek’s schools educating the midwives entangled in the historical context has flashed almost unnoticed. This history was happening in front of our eyes, although it was beyond the awareness of most of us. That is why the people connected with the educating the midwives should be remembered due to their hard work and effort in teaching future midwives.
