Kuban in the state-views of Pavlo Skoropadsky

Abstract
The article focuses on the role and place of the Kuban in state views of Hetman of the Ukrainian State Pavlo Skoropadsky. Motives which was followed by P. Skoropadsky in his projects on Kuban are analyzed. Subjective and objective factors which prevented plans on the union of the Ukrainian State and Kuban People’s Republic are exposed. The complexity of the socio-political situation in which the leaders of the CPR and Kuban Cossacks appeared in 1917-1918, is rotined. Momentous events and decisions which affected on Ukrainian-Kuban relations are well represented in the article: activity of Kuban delegation of M. Ryabovola, ideas about sending Ukrainian troops to Tamansky peninsula, Novorossiysk meeting of leaders of the CPR, union of Kuban Cossacks with the Volunteer Army and others like that. The article is written on the basis of different sources: memoirs of Ukrainian and Kuban statesmen, archives (reports of diplomats of the Ukrainian State), statistical materials. Author allows you to take a new look both on Ukrainian-Kuban relations in 1918 and on the decision by P. Skoropadsky territorial question of foreign policy of the Ukrainian State. In this research it is possible to get an answer for two key questions: «Why did not longawaited connection of Kuban and Ukraine take place?» and «Why did Kubans suffer defeat in a fight for statehood?».
