The USS Ensign Mykola Opoka’s letters to Rostyslav Zaklynskyi as a source for the studying of the Galician Army officer’s daily life

Abstract
The article deals with the issues of the Ukrainian Galician Army’s daily life based on the officer’s letters. These letters were written by the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen (USS) Ensign Mykola Opoka to historian Rostyslav Zaklynskyi within the Polish-Ukrainian war 1918-1919 period. The storage location of the materials is the Lviv National Vasyl Stefanyk Scientific Library of Ukraine, Manuscripts department. And the letters for the first time are published. The main elements of the Galician officer’s daily life have been analyzed. Such as relationship with both the high command of the Ukrainian Galician Army and other officers, logistics, leisure, social and political moods and behavior of the Ukrainian officers based on Mykola Opoka’s letters have been highlighted. In these materials are presented quite valuable evidence about the circumstances of the Galician officer’s daily life. These letters contain exceptional value, especially as a source for the history of the Ukrainian Galician Army in 1918-1919.
