¿La desigualdad de los agentes afecta al consumo? Una visión desde la política monetaria

Journal Title: REVISTA DE ANÁLISIS ECONÓMICO Y FINANCIERO - Year 2020, Vol 3, Issue 1

Abstract

This document analyzes the indirect effect between aggregate consumption and the design of monetary policy under the basic New Keynesian approach in a small closed economy. Assuming heterogeneous agents, it is observed that the impact of the interest rate on consumption is greater than considering a representative agent model according to Kaplan, Moll and Violante (2018). Thus, the research work shows that if the government generates a monetary policy that stimulates the economy, its impact is greater in those families that have a diversified portfolio whose wealth is divided between salaries and financial assets, than in those that only have labor income, widening the inequality gap.
