Laboratory Test of Silt Clay Consolidation by Vacuum Preloading

Abstract

The consolidation effect of soil after vacuum preloading method was very different by depth. In order to explore the reason of vacuum degree loss during vacuum transfer via vacuum preloading method,the silt clay was used for the indoor model test,and the shear strength test of the soil was carried out after the test. The test results show that the vacuum degree transfer in the drainage plate was impeded by the soil around the reinforced zone,which can be weakened by the sealing treatment of the drainage plate to some extent. In addition,the sand cushion has great influence on the shear strength of vane which consolidates the soil surface.However,it has little influence on soil beneath the surface,which makes the shear strength of the soil surface greater than that of other parts.
