LAND OFUKRAINE: ATLAS VALUE MAPPING

Journal Title: UNKNOWN - Year 2018, Vol 19, Issue 2

Abstract

The article discusses the issues of digital atlas mapping, which is gaining momentum in recent decades. It substantiates atlas mapping as an instrument of visualization of various spatial and temporal information that reflects the properties of land resources, on which their value depends, trends in their changes, as well as the influence of natural and anthropogenic factors on the value of land. The solution of the cartographic visualization problem is possible with the optimal choice of cartographic service, which can serve as the basis for creating interactive thematic maps of the digital atlas of the cost of land in Ukraine. Application of ArcGIS Online service enables the use of a wide variety of cartographic methods in the compilation of thematic maps. At the same time, there are currently no examples of creating atlases of land evaluation subjects in both paper and digital form, so the issues raised in this article are relevant. The publication analyzes the views of various scholars on the essence of atlas mapping of land resources, in particular, the value of land. It is substantiated that the atlases of land valuation subjects should contain in their structure maps of the following content: a digital elevation model; soil formation deposits and their properties; soils and their properties; agrometeorological, agro-geographic; economic (land valuations of different target destinations). The paper considers different variants of land-valuation thematic maps offered by domestic and foreign authors alike. Problems and tasks at hand, connected with the development of digital thematic mapping of land resources, in particular their cost, are outlined. Areas for problem solving in the fields of collecting, analyzing and generalizing information on the value of agricultural land and influencing on it factors, the cost of land in settlements, ways and means of displaying land value indicators on thematic maps of the digital atlas of the value of land in Ukraine are proposed.
