Large Broad ligament lipoleiomyoma masquerading as an ovarian malignancy:an uncommon tumor in an unusual site: a case report
Journal Title: Scholars Journal of Medical Case Reports - Year 2016, Vol 4, Issue 11
Abstract
Lipoleiomyoma is a very uncommon tumor accounting for 0.3 to 2.1% of all uterine leiomyomas and is composed of adipocytes and smooth muscle cells. They are mostly found in the fundus or cervix and extremely rare in the broad ligament. Preoperative diagnosis of lipoleiomyoma of the broad ligament is very difficult due to its similarity to ovarian tumor. I report a case of a 45-year-old premenopausal woman with huge lipoleiomyoma of the broad ligament mimicking an ovarian tumor. I present this case because of its rarity and deceptive clinical presentation along with confusing histopathology. Keywords: Lipoleiomyoma, broad ligament, ovarian malignancy.
