Learning Strategies Developed by Students in Translation Training

Abstract
This study is to examine learning strategies developed by students in translation training and its aim is to determine the most used learning strategies by students when they are translating. It was tried to classify their strategies at the meta-cognitive, cognitive and socio-affective levels. Descriptive survey model was used in this study. Survey technique was used as a data collection tool. Open ended questions were asked to 25 students and were evaluated by analyzing the contents of these questions. As a result, it was concluded that the students study couldn’t use meta-cognitive, cognitive and socio-affective learning strategies in translation training at the top level. However, it was emphasised that the students need to develop meta-cognitive strategies which requires especially cognitive and conscience at the highest level to make meaningful their language learning and translation training and to set a target for themselves.
