Journal Title: Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal - Year 2025, Vol 31, Issue 8
Abstract
The study attempted to develop and evaluate enhancement reading material in English 7 for the students of San Roque National High School, District II-B of Antipolo City during the School Year 2017–2018. The descriptive method of research with the survey questionnaire, as its main data gathering instrument, was used. Based on the findings, there were ten (10) least mastered reading skills in English 7 which served as the basis for the development of enhancement material. In addition, the English teachers and the experts evaluated the developed enhancement reading material based on its parts: overview, learning objectives, learning content, practice task and assessment as Moderately Agree with average means of 4.42 and 4.35 respectively. More so, the readability level of the literatures on the developed enhancement reading material based on Flesch’s reading formula was appropriate to Grade 7 students as regards the reading ease score of 76.8 and 83.1 respectively. It was concluded that the developed enhancement reading material in Grade 7 English is practical for actual use of English teachers in Grade 7 level. Also, the evaluations of the two groups of respondents on the developed enhancement reading material in Grade 7 English do not vary from each other. Furthermore, it was recommended that the developed enhancement reading material in Grade 7 English may be validated to determine their effectiveness for better performance of the students.
