LEGAL ARGUMENTS FOR CHURCH MARRIAGE LEGALIZATION IN UKRAINE

Abstract
The article reviews the legalization of religious marriages in Ukrainian legislation. Positive experience of many countries of the word presented in the article shows that the state’s recognition of religious marriages has only advantages and no disadvantages. The article gives specific examples of loyalty of the Ukrainian legislator to the needs of the worshippers which, will allow the legislator to take the next step - to provide the opportunity for the couples to conclude only one marriage instead of two (church marriage and the registration at the Civil Registry Office), as it has been the case in Ukraine today. Furthermore, the necessity to introduce this novelty in case of marriage conclusion with “foreign elements” is substantiated as well. According to the results of the study specific proposals regarding the marriage procedure in the church, which could be recognized by the state have been developed.
