“Lei ha qualcosa contro i negri?” Lo IAT nello studio dell’umorismo razziale [“Are you against niggers?” IAT (Implicit-Association Test) in studying racial humor]

Abstract
IT: Nella presente ricerca pilota si è voluto osservare se e quali effetti vengono prodotti da barzellette con oggetto il colore della pelle, su soggetti di pelle bianca, ipotizzando di evidenziare un abbassamento della preferenza per la pelle chiara in alcune delle condizioni in esame. Ai partecipanti è stato chiesto di valutare il potenziale offensivo di una serie di barzellette, presentate in otto diverse condizioni. Tale valutazione è avvenuta tra la somministrazione di un primo IAT (pre-test) e la ripetizione del medesimo test (post-test), per avere una misura del pregiudizio razziale dei soggetti. Dai risultati non emergono effetti significativi delle barzellette e delle diverse condizioni sui risultati del test di associazione implicita. Interessanti, invece, sono alcuni risultati ottenuti osservando i dati relativi alle valutazioni: sembra infatti che barzellette testualmente identiche ottengano valutazioni diverse in maniera dipendente dal colore della pelle del narratore, dallo stile utilizzato e dal target dell’umorismo. EN: This research was designed to study whether jokes based on skin color affect the degree of prejudice in a sample of white skinned subjects according to the hypothesis that white skinned people’s implicit preference for white skin decreases in some conditions. The participants were requested to evaluate the offensiveness of a series of ten jokes in eight different conditions. This task was executed after an implicit association test (pre-test) which was then subsequently repeated (post-test) in order to compare the two measurements. The results did not show any particular effect of the jokes on the second IAT scores in any of the eight conditions. Nevertheless, evaluations of the offensiveness of the jokes were interesting: it appears that different evaluations will be given to a joke depending on the skin color of the teller, the humor style and the target of the joke.
