Lexical and semantic specificity of the concept LIE verbalization in media discourse (case study of English pseudo news)

Abstract

The article examines direct nominations of the concept LIE –lexemes lie, lying, deceit – and cognitive mechanisms of formation of indirect means of its nomination; logical and notional layer of the concept LIE structure with its sensory-shaped nuclear and the base layer has been reconstructed. The latter, in its turn, is pointed out through the near and far periphery. It has been revealed that the concept LIE is modeled as a multidimensional integrative mental formation and is objectified in a media discourse with the aim of realizing the author’s intentions and influencing the addressee. The features of the given concept verbalization are determined via lexical and semantic parameters.
