Libraries as Gateway for Academic Excellence: A Compact Review

Abstract
Education is the key factor in the development and advancement of a society. Each student must be considered as an asset for a nation to progress and advance. Since education and training of an individual is a life-long process and makes the students competent, self-learners and be an asset to society. Academic librarians are the responsible persons in providing information to everyone in the society. Libraries have been regarded as important pillars of any educational system from time immemorial in all parts of the world. Libraries have played a significant role in education, thereby offering effective and efficient services in all areas. In any institution, the use of library resources and its outcome is always assed by academic performance of students. Academic libraries must support teaching, research and other academic programs with useful resources. In conclusion, library and information centers have become important channels for disseminating information available in multiple formats to its users.
