LINGUAL AND CULTURAL COMPONENTS OF THE COLOUR TERMS

Abstract
The article deals with the Russian colour terms that have lingual and cultural meaning. To colour terms we realize adjectives which mean specific and non-specific colours, and which function as independent (simple, complex) lexemes, as well as parts of descriptive constructions with the component colour / of the colour. These lexemes and constructions are classified according to structural (into simple, composite and parts of descriptive constructions) and semantic peculiarities (into colour terms with basic and derived colour meaning, polysemantic and monosemantic, with explicit and implicit colour meaning, colour terms proper and colour terms with unspecific colour meaning, colour terms that name one or several colours). These verbal signs transmit information which is connected with conceptualization of the ancient world and society, reflect the ethnic mentality, historical and cultural experience of people. It deals with figurative and symbolic meanings of colour terms which are conditioned by mythological form of human thinking. The obtained results are the impulse for the investigation of different colour terms which semantics is complicated by lingual and cultural symbols and relict ritual beliefs.
