PERIFRASISNESS AS A FUNCTIONAL-SEMANTIC CATEGORY OF COMMUNICATIVE LANGUAGE LEVEL

Abstract
The article deals with categorical specificity of communicative language level and presents the results of the research of the communicative properties and capabilities of paraphrases as units of this level. Analysis of the data shows that the communicative actualization of a word semantics-nominees in paraphrases occurs for such semantic rules: a) the relations between theme and rheme in the paraphrase are based on the iteration of word-nominees seme in the reference component of periphrastic combination, b) the words of certain selective classes correspond the communicative function of each component in the periphrastic combination, c) the mechanism of figurative valence depends on the actualization of expressively prospective semes in the reference component of the periphrastic combination, d) «semantic filter» determines the presence of the proper meanings of the components in the periphrastic combination as a «pledge» of its perifrasisness, e) appositives are used to paratactic express the semantic correlation of the components in the periphrastic combinations. Means of expressing the communicative and relevant values have such trinomial semantic structure: 1) words-nominees, 2) periphrastic components, 3) predicative components. The phenomenon of paraphrase is due to the speaker’s communicative intention and his installing on the expression of meaning. The results of this research allow us to identify paraphrases as a linguistic object and to determine the perifrasisness as a functional-semantic category of communicative level of the language.
