Journal Title: Записки з романо-германської філології - Year 2018, Vol 2, Issue
Abstract
The article is timed to celebrate Lidia Pikhtovnikova’s jubilee. Lidia Pikhtovnikova has a DSc degree in linguistics, she is a professor at Kharkiv V.N. Karazin National University (Ukraine) and is a well-known Ukrainian philologist. The article highlights main stages of the scientific activity of L.S. Pikhtovnikova and scientifically significant results of her research school. The article contains a brief description of the current state of linguistic synergetics, its origin, development and perspectives in Ukraine. The article also considers causes of the emergence of synergetics as a comprehensive science of self-organization of complex systems of various ontologies and the history of application of ideas and key notions of synergetics to philological studies. The main aim of the article is to trace the emergence and development of linguistic synergetics in Ukraine. The object of the article is the scientific activity of Lidia Pikhtovnikova, a pioneer of the synergetic paradigm in this country. The author undertakes to outline the contribution made by Lidia Pikhtovnikova’s works and by the works of her scientific school to the development of linguistic synergetics in Ukraine. To serve this purpose, the two theses (a PhD and a doctoral), main articles and monographs by L.S. Pikhtovnikova are considered in chronological sequence, then her scientific school is briefly described. In her books, LidiaPikhtovnikova studied a corpus of fiction texts of small genres (such as fables and parables) paying special attention to the problem of selforganization of discourse and that of any literary work. The information-cognitive approach of the researcher led to the consideration of neural-like networks, which are regarded as the material substance of mental processes. Mechanisms of self-organization of similar networks, as well as various restrictions on the activity of these mechanisms are analyzed in L.S. Pikhtovnikova’s works: fractals, loops, cicles, and restriction of the mathematical-disasters type. The undertaken survey makes it possible for the author to outline a number of specific directions for the further development of linguistic synergetics as a promising science.
