Lipid bilayer nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis: a glance at liposomes and exosomes
Journal Title: International Journal of Clinical Rheumatology - Year 2018, Vol 13, Issue 3
Abstract
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease leading to joint destruction, with its pathogenesis still not fully understood and currently no cure available. We hope this brief overview of liposomes and exosomes and their potential in the treatment of RA can provide a better understanding on lipid bilayer nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems for RA therapy, and inspire new therapeutic approaches.

Long term follow up of an early oligoarthritis cohort shows that early aggressive intervention leads to drug free remission after 10 years: results from the LOTO study
Objective: To report the long-term outcome in the long-term follow up of the Leeds Early Oligoarthritis Cohort. Methods: Cross-sectional follow up of patients who participated in two previous interventional studies. Subj...
The role of miRNAs in autoimmune inflammatory diseases
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are abundant short 21- 23 nucleotides-long non-coding RNAs that modulate virtually all eukaryotic gene expression processes during development and are crucial for sustaining optimal cell functions and...
Rheumatic and musculoskeletal manifestations in renal hemodialysis patients
Objectives: To determine the frequency of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Diseases (RMDs) in patients with renal failure on regular hemodialysis. Methods and findings: The present study included forty-nine patients (28 ma...
PTPN22, CTLA4, FcγRIIa, FcγRIIIa and FcγRIIIb polymorphisms in Tunisian patients with systemic lupus erythematosus
Background: Pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) involves both T cell tolerance breakdown and pathogenic autoantibodies. Polymorphisms in T cell regulatory proteins (PTPN22 and CTLA-4) and IgG receptors (Fc...
Association of sarcoidosis and psoriasis: a difficult diagnosis
Sarcoidosis is a chronic multisystem disorder characterized by the formation of non caseating epithelioid cell granulomas affecting multiple organ systems. The role of the type 1 helper T (TH1) cells and type 17 helper T...
