Listy Henryka Sienkiewicza do Konrada Dobrskiego. Autoportret pisarza z czasów młodości

Abstract
The article concerns the letters of Henryk Sienkiewicz written to Konrad Dobrski from Poświętne. The first part of the paper shows the publishing history of the correspondence, while the second focuses on the three themes apparent in his relations with the addressee: the practical, the social, and the creative one. The diffused and ambiguous image of the author of this correspondence has been presented within the framework proposed by Michel Beaujour’s category of self-portrait as a form different from the classical autobiography on account of its discontinuity, associative character, and the focus on the present at the expense of the past and the future.
