LITOVIAN-RUSSIAN STATE: THE FEATURES OF GOVERNANCE OF RUSSIAN–UKRAINIAN LANDS

Abstract
The article deals with the state building on the Ukrainian territories during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the historical period of time between the two unions (covering the beginnings of conquest). The focus is on the evolution of governance mechanisms during the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries, from the point of view of their relevance in the system of contemporary state-building problems. It covers a range of issues related to forms of local self-government, in particular, the implementation of the norms of the Magdeburg Law; The way of formation of new states and their influence on formation of power structures are illuminated; the principles of interaction between the central (grand prix) and local governments are considered in detail; The reasons and prerequisites for the restriction of autocracy in the principality and its historical value are investigated. The author covers historiographical theories and concepts concerning the importance of the Ukrainian element in management, proving its important role in the management of the state.
