Long-term Home Care for the Elderly in Poland in Relation to Solutions Implemented in Selected European Countries

Abstract
The dynamic increase in the percentage of elderly people requiring care and help in everyday functioning observed in recent years creates the need to develop a longterm care system in Poland. The aging process of societies is a global phenomenon. In comparison with other European countries, Poland is still considered to be a young country, but the dynamics of this process are currently much faster in Poland than the European average adopted. Experience in providing long-term care for older people in European countries that have been grappling with the problem of an aging population for years may be a positive direction for changes in improving the quality of services provided in Poland. These changes should primarily cover the home care sector to enable the elderly to stay in their home environment for as long as possible.
