Journal Title: Науковий вісник Херсонського державного університету. Серія «Психологічні науки» - Year 2017, Vol 5, Issue 1
Abstract
The views by A. Maslow and E. Fromm to the need for a person in love is comparative analyzed. A. Maslow distinguishes two types of love: deficit and existential. The deficit arises because of the need for self-esteem, the fear of loneliness, sex, etc. It is a love for the essence of another, his life. Human does not have the desire to fully possess the object of love. It focuses on the other person, her life, feelings, emotions, rather than on satisfaction of personal interests. Self-actualization as the peak of human needs is impossible without such a component as love. It is on this hierarchical step that man reveals the truth of love. E. Fromm highlights a true mature love and symbiotic alliance. The symbiotic alliance is included active and passive forms. Mature love is an active force that allows you to overcome the feeling of isolation and maintain its integrity. E. Fromm considers love an art consisting of theory and practice. Man must learn to love. E. Fromm and A. Maslow consider love is an important part of social life.
