Journal Title: Journal of Medical Research and Practice - Year 2017, Vol 6, Issue 6

Abstract

It has been observed that low high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol was associated with the development of depression in a healthy individual. Further, there has been verified observation that there is an association between depression and the etiology of cardiac-related problems like angina pectoris, myocardial infarction including death due to cardiac arrest. The authors intend to review the pertinent issues and the remarkable study findings till date in this article. An examination of lipid profile in the depressed patients and proper management of any dyslipidemia in time can prevent many adverse cardiac outcomes.
