Abstract
The book by Katarzyna Sadkowska “Lviv literary criticism 1894–1914. Trends and issues” (“Lwowska krytyka literacka 1894–1914. Tendencje i problemy”, Warszawa 2015) is a pioneering attempt to synthesize the history of literary criticism understood as an important element of Lviv’s literary life in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. The high level of novelty demonstrated by Katarzyna Sadkowska’s work stems from extensive journalist and archival queries (especially in the precious Ostap Ortwin Archives) and careful analytical and interpretive treatments.
