Maintenance system improvement in cast iron foundry
Journal Title: Archiwum Odlewnictwa - Year 2011, Vol 11, Issue 3
Abstract
The work presents the issue of technical equipment management in an iron foundry basing on the assumptions of the TPM system (Total Productive Maintenance). Exploitation analysis of automatic casting lines has been carried out and their work’s influence on the whole production system’s functioning has been researched. Within maintenance system improvement, implementation of autonomic service and planned lines’ review have been proposed in order to minimize the time of breakdown stoppages. The SMED method was used to optimize changeover time, and the OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) was applied to evaluate the level of resources usage before and after implementing changes. Further, the influence of the maintenance strategy of casting devices’ efficiency on own costs of casting manufac-ture was estimated.

Assessment of harmfulness of green sand with additions of dust from dry dedusting
Recently, in the literature about the problems cause to the environment by foundry industry, attention has been paid to the presence and harmful effect of aromatic hydrocarbons: benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and isomers...
Plastic properties of cold-deformed ironbased sintered materials
Cold plastic forming of sintered metal powders has limited practical application because of, among others, the deformation degree and initial porosity of preforms. Cold forming is combined with a very drastic drop of pla...
Analysis of the Compounds from the BTEX Group, Emitted During Thermal Decomposition of Alkyd Resin
Suitability of the given binding agent for the moulding sands preparation depends on the one hand on the estimation of technological properties of the sand and the mould made of it and the obtained casting quality and on...
Structure of the AZ91 alloy pressure castings fabricated of home scrap containing charge
The influence of the AZ91 alloy home scrap addition to the metal charge on both the structure and the selected mechanical properties of pressure castings was examined in this article. Two heats were made using different...
Efficiency of protective coatings on high creep resistant cast steel
This paper presents results of research of multilayer aluminium–silicon coatings. Aluminium–silicon coatings were created on high– temperature creep resist cast iron using slurry method in air atmosphere. These coatings...
