Journal Title: Postępy Nauk Medycznych - Year 2012, Vol 25, Issue 12

Abstract

Malnutrition of pregnant women as well as women of childbearing age is a risk factor of adverse pregnancy outcomes and worse health condition of infant. There is a lack of data about incidents of energy and protein malnutrition of pregnant women in Poland,. More is known about deficiency of nutrients. A lot of study indicate that intake of nutrients by pregnant women is below to recommendations. The risk of malnutrition is greater at underweight women. Recently particularly attention should be paid on irrational reducing weight diet of young women which can lead to development of eating disorders. Health attitudes of women before and during pregnancy are important factors of infant’s health not only in postnatal period but also in later life. Scientist evidence of this is the base of “programming” health project by improving of nutrition in critical period of human’s development.
