Abstract
В статті аналізуються матеріали особового походження, котрі висвітлюють історію купецтва Наддніпрянської Україні. Складені на основі пам’яті і особистих вражень, індивідуального досвіду учасників подій, матеріали особового походження (подорожні записки, спогади, щоденники, листи) з особливою виразністю відтворюють живі картини та унікальні подробиці різних сторін буття купецтва. Проаналізовані джерела особового походження забезпечили різноманітний, багатий, а в ряді випадків й унікальний фактологічний матеріал з історії купецтва, однак вимагають критичного аналізу із застосуванням широкого комплексу джерелознавчих прийомів. The article analyzes materials of personal origin, which cover the history of the merchants of the Dnieper Ukraine. All of them differ by the individual perception of the environment where the authors of the events occured. This perception was the result of the whole set of factors such as the internal development of the society itself and ideological, social, cultural, political and other orientations of the subject. These sources are united by separate plots of the history of the merchants of the Dnieper Ukraine and the region, different for the purpose of creation, functional load in which events unfolded, the witness of which the author of the testimony was a witness. Materials of personal origin (travel notes, memoirs, diaries) with a special expressive reproduction of living pictures and unique details of the various aspects of the merchant's life were based on the memory and personal impressions, the individual experience of participants of the events. According to their specifics, personal materials (travellers’ notes, in particular) belong to the type of sources that generously and comprehensively highlight the existence of the merchants of Ukrainian provinces. Strangers were too observant in this regard, because they were not interested in phenomena and events that deviated from the norm, but the very "norm of life" was the usual, "correct" behavior of the inhabitants of the country in which they got and what they watched. The article analyzes the notes of travellers from different regions of the Dnieper Ukraine of the Austrian traveler B. Gaket, the Russian writer and traveller V. Izmailov, the French ambassador Count L.F. Segure, British traveler T. McGill, Prince I. Dolgorukov. The unique testimonies from the history of the merchants’ everyday life include the memoirs of Odesskaya K. Skalkovsky, S. Witte (the chairman of the Committee of Ministers), teacher N. Poluyanskaya (Mikhailova), composer S. Rachmaninov, and the diaries of Kh. Aladzalov, E. Dyakonova, S. Rusova. The analyzed sources of personal origin provided diverse, rich, and in some cases unique factual material on the history of Ukrainian merchants, but they still require a critical analysis using a wide range of sources techniques
