MATERIALS ABOUT ACTIVITIES OF BROTHERS VICTOR AND ADAM ARTSYMOVICH IN FUNDS OF THE SCIENTIFIC LIBRARY OF ODESSA NATIONAL UNIVERSITY

Abstract
The purpose of an article is reconstruction of history of the Artsymovich’s family, researching official career and main activities of two bright representatives of this dynasty, senator V. A. Artsymovich and A. A. Artsymovich who was a trustee of Odessa Educational District in 1862-1866, on the materials which are stored in the ONU Scientific library. As a result of that problem research it is found that there are valuable sources for study of this subject in the Scientific library funds: collection of memoirs «Viktor Аntonovich Artsymovich. Recollections. Characteristics», devoted to various types of official activities of the senator, and microfilm including fragments of the case of A. A. Artsymovich, which is fully stored in Russian State Historical Archive in St. Petersburg. Unusual for library collections microfilmed document with formulary list of A. Artsymovich allows us to trace the contribution of the trustee in development of secondary educational establishments in the district, the spread of female education, improving of national schools, the foundation of the departmental magazine «Circular Note on Management of Odessa Educational District» and his role in foundation of Novorossiysky University in Odessa
