Maternofetal Thyroid Action and Brain Development
Journal Title: JOURNAL OF ADVANCES IN BIOLOGY - Year 2015, Vol 7, Issue 1
Abstract
Thyroid hormones (THs) are a key regulatory factor of the developmental program and maternal-fetal communication network. The cellular basis for these effects lies in the organizational role of TH in neuronal migration, synaptogenesis and differentiation of multiple cell types. Thus, any vigorous changes in the THs levels during the development may cause a patho-physiological states and serious damage to the structural development and organization of the brain. It can be hypothesized that the disturbance in the maternofetal THs due to antithyroid drugs, Levo-thyroxine or environmental disruptors may lead, in turn, to the biochemical dysfunctions, morphofunctional alterations, developmental abnormalities and brain damage if not corrected prior/after the birth. Thus, further studies need to be done to emphasize this concept.

The productivity of wheat cultivars under salt stress not always linked with their nitrate reductase activity in leaves
To evaluate the effect of salt stress on four wheat cultivars (Bani suief 1, Bani suief 3, Seds 1 and Seds 6), seeds were cultivated in sand clay soil under normal field conditions. The plants left to grow for 21-days, t...
Validation of a growth estimation method: Application to the flathead mullet, Mugil cephalus in the Northern coast of Senegal
Growth parameters estimation (Linf and K) of Mugil cephalus in the Northern coast of Senegal was made with the ELEFAN in R program, based on biological sampling carried out on three landing sites (Kayar, Fass Boye,...
Genetic Variability of Grain Sorghum (Sorghum bicolour L. Monech) Genotypes under Drought Stress Conditions
Twenty two genotypes of grain sorghum (Sorghum bicolour L. Monech.) were evaluated at College of Agricultural Studies, Sudan University of Science and Technology, Shambat, during two successive summer seasons of 2012 and...
Beneficial Effect of Zinc on diabetes induced kidney damage and liver stress oxidative in rats
The present study was designed to investigate the effects of Zn supplementation on kikney function and liver oxidative stress in Alloxan diabetic rats. Male albino Wistar rats were randomly divided into 4 groups (n=10):...
Investigation the different ratios of carrier material to protect carotenoids in Gac (Momordica cochinchinensis Spreng) powder in drying process
Momordica cochinchinensis Spreng, Cucurbitaceae, is indigenous to Southeast Asia and consumed there for dietary as well as medicinal uses. In Viet Nam, this plant is called Ga, and the seed membrane (seed pulp or aril) o...
