Mathematical Model Development for Viscosity of Transesterified Jatropha Oil using Box - Behnken Method
Journal Title: International Journal of Mechanical and Production Engineering Research and Development (IJMPERD ) - Year 2017, Vol 7, Issue 4
Abstract
The objective of this paper was to optimize the viscosity of transesterified Jatropha Curcas biodiesel has gained importance for boosting the fuel industry and improving the production efficiency of biodiesel. A mathematical model for the transesterification of Jatropha Curcas oil was developed at five different process parameters, such as catalyst concentration, reaction time, methanol to oil ratio, stirrer speed and extraction temperature. A three - level - five factorial Box - Behnken was employed to design the experiment. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) of experimental results at 95% confidence level showed that catalyst concentration and reaction time were significant process parameters. The models can be successfully adopted in fuel industry to minimize the viscosity of transesterified Jatropha oil. The prepared Jatropha Curcas biodiesel (JCB) conformed to the ASTM and IS standards specifications.

Studies on Mild Steel Particulates Reinforced Duralumin Composite Fabricated Through Powder Metallurgy Route
In the present study Duralumin(DA) based Mild Steel particles (MSp-6% wt. and 12% wt.) reinforced composite are fabricated by cold compacting the milled powders. The mechanically mixed powders are compacted in a die cavi...
An Effect of Welding Type on the Mechanical Properties of Welding Joints
Welding is widely used in the construction of metallic structures. In service, these structures are prone to failure under different types of loadings: static and dynamic. A welding joint should have adequate strength to...
THICKNESS EFFECT OF DCB SPECIMEN ON INTERLAMINAR FRACTURE TOUGHNESS IN CARBON/EPOXY COMPOSITES
In this work, the influence of specimen thickness on interlaminar fracture toughness in delamination of unidirectional carbon/epoxy laminates is presented. Specimens of three different thicknesses: 3.99, 5.27 and 6.65 mm...
MIXED TWO SIDED COMPLETE CHAIN SAMPLING PLANS FOR MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE VARIANCE
In acceptance sampling plans, mean is commonly used for variable inspection in the production field. In some situations, the variance of the quality characteristics is used as the criterion. That is, a lot may be accepte...
A Case Study of Reverse Engineering Integrated in an Ancient Indian Alchemical Alloying W.S.R to Au-Cu-Zn Alloy, Using Part- Whole Shcema
Reverse engineering has prodigious applications and is the prime cause of todays several engineering marvels. Even though its origins are from our childhood toy dissection, it encouraged several innovators like Claudius...
