MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF POLYMER MIXTURES WITH INTERPENETRATING SPATIAL
Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2011, Vol 239, Issue 5
Abstract
The present work deals with the preparation and properties evaluation of epoxy resin modified with polyurethane. These latter were obtained with hexane 1.6-diisocyanate (HDI) and polyethylene glycol of molecular weight 400 (PUR 400HDI) and 600 g/mol (PUR 600HDI). Impact strength, flexural strength and strain, critical stress intensity factor (KC) as well as energy at break were evaluated as function of PUR content. The structures of obtained composites were examined by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The analysis of the obtained results indicated that the addition of PUR 400HDI, significantly improved the mechanical properties of epoxy resin by the formation of interpenetrating polymer network.
