MEDIA AS A CRIMINOLOGICAL PHENOMENON: THE GENESIS OF THE SCIENTIFIC OPINION

Abstract
The article investigates mass media as a criminological phenomenon in the context of the theoretical substantiation of their role in the determination of criminality. The features of domestic and foreign criminological approaches to the role of mass media are revealed. The main provisions of key research in this field are determined.
