MENTAL HEALTH AND MEDICAL COMORBIDITY
Journal Title: The Odisha Journal of Psychiatry - Year 2013, Vol 20, Issue 1
Abstract
This review reports that persons with comorbid mental and medical conditions represent just a population. The high prevalence of this comorbidity, the complex causal connections linking medical and mental health conditions, and system fragmentation lead to problems in quality and costs related to comorbidity that are commonly even more complicated and burdensome that the problems related to the individual conditions themselves. Internet searches of literature databases were conducted in each of these areas. The researches were limited to the best evidence in the form of systematic reviews, meta-analyses and evidence based clinical practice guidelines.
