Methane production from fat-rich materials
Journal Title: Civil and Environmental Engineering Reports - Year 2011, Vol 1, Issue 6
Abstract
Waste materials containing a lot of fats seem to be an attractive substrate for production of methane through the fermentation process. Yet, due to a changing content of reagents and the high concentration of higher fatty acids, they must be stabilized along with other biodegradable wastes in the process of co-fermentation. This process results in a higher fermentation-grade and a greater volume of produced biogas. However, the methane fermentation of sewage sludges or sewage containing higher fatty acids may be problematical, and requires widespread studies in order to get a better understanding of this process.

IMPACT OF PYRETHROIDS ON METHANE DIGESTION
The process of methane digestion is very sensitive to any changes in the environment. In the group of compounds exerting a toxic effect on the process a special notice should be taken to pesticides – agricultural chemica...
ASCE HONOR FOR THE TCZEW BRIDGE IN POLAND
This note presents the background for the introduction of the quoted bridge, as the International Civil Engineering Landmark, on the list of the ASCE History and Heritage Program. The history and the key structural featu...
SIMPLIFIED APPROACH TO THE SHAKEDOWN PROBLEM OF I-CROSS-SECTIONS UNDER TWODIRECTIONAL BENDING
The report presents an analytical model suitable to carry out a shakedown and limit analysis of steel thin-walled beam cross-sections under low-cyclic loadings. The loads and actions are quasi-static, any dynamic effects...
VALUE OF ANTIQUITY IN THE RESTORATION PROCESS OF THE ART NOUVEAU VILLA DUELFER IN BARLINEK
The value assigned to time-worn objects and buildings seems crucial to a conservator’s theoretical beliefs. The notion of antiquity is almost imprinted in the structure of the building itself, as well as in the concept o...
EVALUATION OF BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY OF CELLULOSE PULP BY MEANS OF THE STATIC RESPIRATION INDEX (AT4)
In the countries of the European Union, work is presently being conducted on the standardisation of the limit values and test methods for the determination of the biological activity of waste. The aim of conducting the t...
