Method for estimating the informativity contained in a hydroacoustic signal

Journal Title: Modern Innovations, Systems and Technologies - Year 2024, Vol 4, Issue 3

Abstract

The analysis of sound transmitted underwater for research purposes has a long and extensive history of successful applications, especially in the marine environment, where most of the major research developments in this area of oceanology take place. This research area involves hydroacoustics and echolocation. In recent decades, technological advances, including miniaturization of electronic components and rapid increases in computing power, have facilitated the development of hydroacoustic systems that can be deployed easily and rapidly. Acoustic propagation medium, and in particular, hydroacoustic, has its unique features and regularities. Naturally, for each medium (channel) it is necessary to develop an encoding approach that does not contradict the physical properties of the medium and, an algorithm for calculating basis functions that approximate a given frequency-time domain with high accuracy. The article is devoted to the application of special functions in assessing the informativeness of hydroacoustic signals, which will allow the study of a wide range of oscillatory hydroacoustic signals, including multiharmonic and transient signals. In the study and further analysis of the frequency-time properties of hydroacoustic signals are applied: spectral analysis, cepstral analysis, subband analysis, wavelet analysis, periodicity and anomaly analysis and data partitioning.
