METHODICAL APPROACHES TO THE ESTIMATION OF THE EFFICIENCY OF PRODUCTION OF LIVESTOCK PRODUCTS IN PERSONAL PEASANT FARMS
Journal Title: ЕКОНОМІЧНИЙ ДИСКУРС - Year 2017, Vol 1, Issue 4
Abstract
Introduction. Increasing the role of PPFs requires the search for new approaches to assess the effectiveness of this important in modern forms of management. The purpose of the study is to develop practical recommendations for assessing the efficiency of production and sales of livestock products in private peasent farms. Methods. The following methods are used in the process of research: abstract and logical (theoretical generalizations and formation of conclusions); monographic; statistical and economic (studying and analyzing the social and economic status of private peasant farms); sociological (questionnaire of owners of personal peasant farms); calculation and constructive, comparative and others. Results. High labor costs in PPFs are due mainly to manual labor and low levels of mechanization of production processes. However, these farms, working on the principles of self-financing and without significant capital investments, do not reduce the production of agricultural products. Utilizing predominantly manual labor, they are less dependent on the rising cost of energy resources and other logistical resources. In general, the cost level of production of the main types of livestock products in the PPF is quite high, which calls into question the competitiveness of this form of management both on the domestic and foreign markets. However, it should be noted that the production of agricultural products in households has a consumer orientation, that is, its main goal – to meet the needs of its members, for the low level of cash incomes of rural residents. At the same time, PPF should be considered as a kind of buffer that holds back the overall decline in agricultural production, which maintains a certain level of food security of the state. Discussion. It should be noted in considering the methodological approaches to the analysis of the activities of private peasant farms that the indicators of social efficiency will dominate in the analysis of their activities: the level of consumption of products derived from personal peasant farms, the share of income, etc. Indicators that characterize economic efficiency will only confirm our assumptions about the basic principles of the functioning of PPF – self-operation, loss-making production, high labor costs, etc.
