MICROSCOPIC EVALUATION OF THE MANHOLES IN SELECTED SEWERAGE PRESSURE SYSTEM
Journal Title: Civil and Environmental Engineering Reports - Year 2019, Vol 2, Issue 29
Abstract
The aim of the research was to determine changes in the elemental composition of concrete under the influence of exposure to hydrogen sulphide in the existing sewage system. The system operator pointed to significant problems with odours in this system. The research included a fragment of the pressure sewage system. The concentration of gases: hydrogen sulphide, ammonia and methane was measured in selected wells. High concentrations of hydrogen sulphide (over 200 ppm) were recorded in the studies. Concrete samples were taken from the internal walls of the well for testing. The samples were used for a microscopic analysis of their composition, using an electron microscope with an EDS attachment. Also, concrete samples from a new sewage well were tested to compare their elemental composition. Gas measurements confirmed the problem of odors, while the analysis of the elemental composition showed a significant proportion of sulphur (from 7.53% to 42.9%) on the surface of the well compared to the reference sample (0%).

THE THEORETICAL ANALYSIS OF MASS AND ENERGY FLOW THROUGH SOLAR COLLECTOR - CHIMNEY SYSTEM
The goal of the paper was to simplify the designing process for mass and energy flow through solar collector - chimney system. Theoretical analysis allowed to get involved system of three nonlinear analytical equations i...
MECHANISMS OF BIOLOGICAL PROCESSES IN DOMESTIC WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANTS
The growing demand for solutions of household sewage treatment plants means that many new or improved technological solutions are available on the market. The implementation of these technologies is associated with the n...
Gasification process as a complex method of sewage sludge treatment
Today, there is a rising interest in many countries in “traditional” (e.g. agro and forest) biomass and waste biomass (e.g. sewage sludge) utilization processes (e.g. combustion, co-combustion, gasification and pyrolysis...
Comparison of the calculation results of heat exchange between a single-family building and the ground obtained with the quasi-stationary and 3-d transient models. Part 1: continuous heating mode
The paper provides comparative results of calculations of heat exchange between ground and typical residential buildings using simplified (quasi-stationary) and more accurate (transient, three-dimensional) methods. Such...
TRUSSES OF TENSEGRITY TYPE IN A CONCEPT OF TRAIN STATION RENOVATION IN ŻARY
The first railway station in Żary was built in 1843 in Germany. After the Second World War and years of socialism in Poland the meaning of railway decreased and its technical condition deteriorated. Now the building need...
