MICROSTRUCTURAL STABILITY OF Ti-46Al-8Ta DURING CREEP
Journal Title: Materials Engineering - Materialove inzinierstvo (MEMI) - Year 2011, Vol 18, Issue 1
Abstract
The effect of long-term creep exposure on the microstructure stability of a new cast air-hardenable intermetallic alloy with nominal chemical composition Ti-46Al-8Ta (at .%) was studied. Constat load creep test were performed at the temperature 750°C and at applied stress 250 MPa up to 3479,3 h. The initial γ(TiAl) + α2(Ti3Al) microstructure of the alloy is unstable and transforms to α[sub]2[/sub] + γ + τ type. During creep the formation of cavities along the lamellar colony and grain boundaries is observed. The specimens fail by the growth and coalescence of such cavities with intergranular type of fracture.

EFFECT OF THE HEAT AND SURFACE LASER TREATMENT ON THE CORROSION DEGRADATION OF THE Mg-Al ALLOYS
In this paper there is presented the corrosion behaviour of the cast magnesium alloys as cast state, after heat and laser treatment. Pitting corrosion resistance of the analyzed alloys was carried out using the potentiod...
INFLUENCE OF SHOT PEENING ON AISI 316Ti FATIGUE PROPERTIES
This paper deals with examination of fatigue properties of AISI 316Ti stainless steel before and after shot peening including analysis of residual stress relaxation during rotating bending fatigue tests (f = 50 Hz, T = 2...
EFFECTIVNESS OF THE FATIGUE CRITERIA FOR COMBINED BENDING – TORSION LOADING
Most of mechanical components in the engineering are frequently subjected to combined loading, which can lead to sudden fatigue failure. In present work the fatigue life of plasma-nitrided and virgin specimens is studied...
EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF EROSIVE WEAR ON THE HIGH CHROME CAST IRON IMPELLER OF SLURRY DISPOSAL PUMP USING RESPONSE SURFACE METHODOLOGY
Erosive wear occurs on the impeller and volute casing of the slurry disposal pump due to the impact of the ash particles on the impeller with a high velocity. Due to erosive wear, pump life become very short. The service...
