Microstructure and Characterization of Ni-Cr Alloy-Spray Repaired Steel

Abstract

In today’s era of manufacturing, wear upon the surface of component is the major problem of all materials. This wear can be reduced to great extent by applying some coating onto the surface of material. The as-sprayed coatings was developed mainly for reducing the wear and corrosion resistance in several fields such as car rims, electricity generating equipments, steel products, and widely in aeronautical industries In this paper, the application of as-sprayed Ni-Cr on low carbon steel and En8 steel using D-gun was examined under various parameters. The coatings were characterized by its microstructure, micro hardness analyses. It has been observed that Ni-Cr coating have better microstructure and is having more hardness which is an ideal attribute of as-sprayed coating.
