Microwave Synthesis of K2Ti4O9 Whiskers
Journal Title: 河南科技大学学报(自然科学版) - Year 2016, Vol 37, Issue 1
Abstract
The microwave heating was applied to synthesize K2Ti4O9 whiskers by using K2CO3 and TiO2powders as raw materials. The phase composition and microstructure of the samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction( XRD) and scanning electron microscope( SEM). The influences of n( K2O) ∶ n( TiO2),microwave heating temperature and holding time on phase and microstructure were investigated. The results show that when the n( K2O) ∶ n( TiO2) is 1∶ 3. 0,K2Ti4O9 whiskers are synthesized by microwave heating at 850 ℃ for15 min. The K2Ti4O9 whiskers have a uniform length from 25 μm to 40 μm with 0.5-1.0 μm in diameter, and the aspect ratio is above 30. Compared with conventional heating, the temperature of the microwave synthesis is decreased by 150 ℃,and the production cycle is greatly shortened.
