Abstract
In the Central Archives of Modern Records in Warsaw a document is preserved which is a report produced by a Polish delegation from the Ministry of Justice regarding its recent visit to the USSR. It gives us an opportunity to look behind the scenes of the Ministry of Justice of the USSR and understand how it functioned. This document contributes to the search for analogies or differences in the functioning of the Ministry of Justice People’s Republic of Poland, in the Stalinist period, when the political breakthrough of 1948 accelerated the convergence of all solutions to the Soviet model
