Mitigation of Absconding behavior at bee hives of Apis mellifera L. in the Brazilian Semiarid

Abstract

Because of the dry period that affects the production of the beekeepers since 2012 in the semiarid of the Brazilian northwest , was performed a review of literature the purpose grouping the works involving of the absconding behavior of swarms of bees Apis mellifera L. around the world, as well as some steps taken to reduce this incidence. Was listed some of the most important articles published on the subject, to clear up major issues about the biology, history in Brazil, absconding behaviors, swarming and management of these insects. The knowledge of this by the producer may contribute significantly to in handling the subsequent years.
