Abstract
The article deals with the analysis and staging of M. Staritsky's drama "Winter Evening" on the stage of the Ukrainian professional theater, based on the story of the Belarusian writer in Poland Eliza Ozesko. M. Staritsky created a dramatic plot in two acts in 1888, and dedicated this play to the famous Ukrainian actor, Mykola Sadovsky (Tobilevich). So next year we will celebrate the anniversary of the writing of this play by M. Staritsky. The play "Winter Evening" by M. Staritsky became a symbolic bridge between classical Ukrainian drama and drama of modern times. The time, which brought to the stage of the Ukrainian theater new forms and directions of theatrical art: modernism, symbolism, and later expressionism in staging the reformer of the Ukrainian theater, Les Kurbas. M. Staritsky was one of the first to stage and perform this play on the stage of the Ukrainian professional theater, in particular in the corpse under the direction of M. Sadovsky.
