MONOCULTIVO CAÑERO Y DISEÑO SOCIOECOSISTÉMICO DEL VALLE DEL RÍO CAUCA, COLOMBIA: TERRITORIO-AMBIENTE Y CIENCIA-TÉCNICA

Abstract
Throughout the twentieth century, the geographical valley of the Cauca River was a territory highly intervened by a group of the local political and economic elite to boost productive activities related to agriculture and sugar agribusiness. This process of territorial intervention, which benefited these agricultural activities, with infrastructure works, expansion of the urban border and control of the waters over the flood valley produced a series of negative effects and impacts on ecosystems and on rural communities and Afro-descendants Nowadays there is a territory, highly artificialized and with a presence of the sugarcane agricultural monopoly with a tendency to continue its increase.
