Motif of Cruelty in D. H. Lawrence’s Works (on the Material of the First Collected Stories “Prussian Officer and Other Stories”, 1914)

Abstract
The article deals with the motifs of aggression, cruelty and violence in D.H. Lawrence’s short stories (“The Prussian Officer”, “The Thorn in the Flesh”), which were published in the first collected stories “The Prussian Officer and Other Stories”. The reasons of cruelty originating and the features of aggression and violence development by Lawrence’s protagonists are also scrutinized.
