Abstract

Introduction and purpose of the study. The article is devoted to the actual problem of finding ways to increase the motor activity of students by determining their motivational and axiological attitudes towards recreational activities. The hypothesis of the study is based on the assumption that knowledge of the characteristics of students’ motivation for recreational activities will allow finding ways to increase the level of physical activity of young people in various forms of organizing physical education classes in higher educational institutions. The goal is to analyze the motivational and value attitude of students to recreational activities in order to find ways for increasing the level of physical activity of young people. Material and methods: analysis of scientific and methodical literature, pedagogical observation, pedagogical experiment, questioning, methods of mathematical statistics. The participants. 140 students aged 17–19 years studying at the Oles Gonchar Dnipro National University were attracted to participate in the pedagogical experiment. The study involved 76 boys and 64 girls. Organization of the study. During the experiment students were surveyed about their relationship and involvement in recreational activities. Results. The attitude of students to recreational activities, especially the content of their free time, were determined. The main motives for recreational motor activity, which are different for boys and girls, are revealed. Also it was identified differences in the desired types of motor activity by gender. The distribution of time that students spend on exercise during the week was calculated. The reasons that interfere with recreational activities and the factors that encourage it were revealed. Students also indicated the desired types of recreational activities that they would like to have in a higher educational institution. Conclusions. The results of the survey allowed us to identify measures aimed at increasing the volume of motor activity and the formation of sustainable motivation of students to recreational motor activity
