Multilateral cooperation in the Indian Ocean region: perspectives and challenges for Indonesia

Abstract
The article explores the multilateral diplomacy of Indonesia regarding the formation of cooperation mechanisms in the Indian Ocean region. The author examines the conceptual foundations and practical aspects for implementing Jakarta’s regional policy in this direction in the context of strengthening her status as an influential player in the world. Special attention is paid to the prospects and problems of the implementation of Indonesia’s diplomacy within the framework of the Indian Ocean Rim Association as the key structure of interaction between the countries of the region.
